BRIEF: Barber, Marker come to WDCB

Dec. 03--Patricia Barber, an internationally admired Chicago singer-pianist-composer, and Tom Marker, a veteran Chicago DJ, are bringing their talents to WDCB-FM 90.9.

During the next three weeks, Barber will record pilot episodes of "MusicHeads," a program in which she will discuss and perform jazz and classical music with guests, according to the station.

The shows will air in January, with installments covering these themes: "The Piano as a Percussion Instrument" with pianists Amy Briggs and Lisa Kaplan; "What Is Swing?" with bassist Larry Kohut and drummer Jon Deitemyer; "The Double Bass: Sound, Repertoire and Function," with bassists Patrick Mulcahy and Andrew Anderson.

Marker, who hosts the "Blues Breakers" program on WXRT-FM 93.1, will add to his schedule a "Blues Time" program from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays on WDCB starting Jan. 3.
