Aug. 17--Dee Sandt is the new managing director of American Theater Company, the North Side theater has announced. Sandt assumes her new post effective immediately.
ATC has been on a search for new leadership since artistic director PJ Paparelli died in an automobile accident in May while traveling in Scotland. Bonnie Metzgar, the artistic director of About Face Theatre from 2008-2013, was hired in June as an interim artistic director, though the search for that permanent post continues.
Sandt comes to Chicago from serving as managing director for Synchronicity Theatre in Atlanta since Oct. 2012. She has also worked as financial and development consultant to regional theaters, as well as a stage director and choreographer with regional and off-Broadway credits.
