Feb. 20--Three people suffered minor injuries in a fire at a Near West Side apartment building Thursday evening, a Chicago Fire Department spokesman said.
The fire in the building at 150 S. Campbell Ave. was called in about 5 p.m., and fire officials called an Emergency Medical Services Plan 1, said Fire Department spokesman Will Knight. An EMS Plan 1 brings at least six ambulances to the scene.
The mattress fire on the fifth floor of the building was largely contained to one apartment, and was quickly extinguished. Three people were taken to area hospitals in good condition, while four other people were checked by paramedics but declined to be taken to a hospital, Knight said.
