Feb. 21--Two people were killed and a third seriously injured in a one-car crash early Saturday morning in suburban Elgin.
Elgin police said the accident happened shortly after midnight in the 1100 block of Forest Drive in the northwest suburb.
Three people riding in a car westbound on Forest Drive drove off the road and struck a tree, according to a police statement.
Two people inside the car needed to be extricated by emergency crews, police said. All three people, whose ages and genders were not immediately available, were taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital.
Two people later died at the hospital, and the third person remains in serious condition, police said.
Police said the identities of the two who died are being withheld until family members can be notified.
