Nov. 28--At least five people were wounded in shootings across Chicago on Thanksgiving, police said.
--A 50-year-old man was shot during an armed robbery around 9:40 p.m. in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The gunman approached the man, announced a robbery, took some money and fired a shot, said Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
The man was hit in the left leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Alfaro said. As of early Friday, no one was in custody.
--At 6:05 p.m., a 24-year-old man was walking on the 500 block of East Bowen Avenue in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood when two men emerged from a gangway and began shooting, police said.
The man was shot in the hand and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was in good condition, police said.
--At about 4:20 p.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the 5000 block of West Division Street in the Austin neighborhood, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the hip and managed to get to West Suburban Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
--At about 2:10 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the 7000 block of South East End Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood.
The man was on the street when three people approached and shot him in the left buttock, Zala said. The man was hospitalized and his condition had stabilized, police said.
--A man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood around 11:10 a.m. Thursday in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco.
The 36-year-old man was on the street when a gray vehicle pulled up and someone inside opened fire, Pacheco said. The man was shot in the calf.
The man tried to run but realized he had been shot and went to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
