Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Brian Urlacher is among a group of former NFL players joining in a bid to purchase the New York Mets.

ESPN reported that Urlacher and fellow NFL players Travis Kelce and DeMarco Murray were joining a group led by former New York Yankees great Alex Rodriguez and entertainer Jennifer Lopez that is trying to purchase the baseball team.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have such high-quality individuals as part of our group,” Lopez and Rodriguez told ESPN.

The Rodriguez-Lopez group has already submitted an initial bid of $1.7 billion, ESPN reported. Other athletes involved in the bid include former offensive lineman Joe Thomas, former NBA All-Star Bradley Beal and Denver Nuggets center Mason Plumlee, ESPN said.

Urlacher, who spent 13 seasons with the Bears, was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018.
