Brian Graham in Partick Thistle rant as he targets promotion to 'shove two fingers up at everyone who shafted us'

Veteran striker Brian Graham admits he is looking to "shove two fingers up" to those who "shafted" Partick Thistle when they were relegated to League One by earning Premiership promotion.

Back in 2020, the Jags dropped to the third tier of Scottish football after the Championship season was called to an early end in the midst of the Covid pandemic - despite having a a game in hand which could have allowed Thistle to leapfrog Queen of the South at the bottom of the division. The SPFL plan to end the campaign was voted through by a majority of member clubs and led to Thistle and Hearts taking legal action against the governing body.

Since then, the Jags claimed the League One title and have reestablished themselves as a force in the second tier of Scottish football. They could take that one step further as they target promotion to the Scottish Premiership as they prepare to face Ayr United in the playoff semi-final.

Ahead of the game, Graham admits he is still miffed about how the club was treated three years ago as he unleashed on their rivals. The 35-year-old said: "If we could go and do it then it would be fantastic. Especially with the amount of things that have happened to me in my time at Partick Thistle. It's not just been plain sailing there has been bumps along the way.

"(We were) Unfairly relegated and now we find ourselves in a position where we are fighting to get to the Premier League. So, it's been a rollercoaster journey but it's one that I want to keep going. There is a growing anger within that you want to go and prove people wrong. We did that when we won League One and we want to go one better and get to the Premiership and shove two fingers up to everyone who shafted us."
