Brentford to hold Said Benrahma crisis talks with West Ham transfer in balance

Brentford will hold crisis talks with Said Benrahma with West Ham preferring Bournemouth ’s Josh King over the £25million winger.

As revealed by Mirror Sport on Monday, Benrahma is unhappy with the Bees over what he sees as a broken promise made to him by the club.

It has left the potential deal to take him to West Ham in the balance, despite the confidence at the Brentford Community Stadium that it will happen.

A medical had been planned for Benrahama on Wednesday following his international friendly with Algeria against Mexico on Tuesday night.

Instead Brentford Co-Director of Football Phil Giles intends to sit down with Benrahma when the 25-year-old returns in a bid to straighten out the issue, believed to be financial.

Benrahma rebuffed a similar attempt by the club to placate him last weekend and remains unhappy with the situation.

West Ham have offered £17million down over three years for him with another £8million payable in add-ons. Although Aston Villa have shown an interest there has been no approach by the Midlands club.

West Ham’s stars, meanwhile, remain bemused at the approach for yet another winger instead of a player they feel will provide support for Michail Antonio up front.

David Moyes, too, is known to prefer King to Benrahma despite the Algerian’s 17 goals in 43 appearances last season.

West Ham are set to return with a fresh bid for King within the next 24 hours after seeing an offer worth £13million rejected for the versatile marksman.

Bournemouth want £18million for the 28-year-old who is in the final year of his contract.
