Brendan Rodgers was quick to playfully correct a BBC reporter over a case of mistaken identity when discussing Liam Scales.
The Celtic centre-back earned huge praise from his manager after a standout performance against Rangers at Ibrox.
However, in a mental slip, BBC reporter Martin Dowden asked the Celtic boss about John Scales in the aftermath of the 1-0 victory.
Responding to the on-air slip of the tongue, Rodgers jokingly responded referencing former Liverpool defender John Scales who played as a professional footballer between 1984 and 2001.
On BBC Radio Scotland, journalist Martin Dowden said: "I asked you last week about John Scales and whether you saw him as someone who could potentially force his way into the starting line-up, what did you make of what he delivered for you today?"
Sharp as a tack, Rodgers kidded: "Well, John Scales was a very good player that played for Liverpool."
The reporter - who had mistakenly named the former Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers defender - then replied: "John Scales! I do that all the time, I do apologise, Liam Scales. It's the Liverpool connection!"
Former Liverpool manager Rodgers laughed off the mix-up, adding: "Absolutely, aye.
"I thought he was absolutely magnificent today, I can always rely on him.
"He's a good guy, he wants to play games and I thought today he really stood up to the challenge and was absolutely brilliant.
"I'm very happy for him."
On Scales - when speaking to Sky Sports - Rodgers added: "He was outstanding. Liam's a guy that has spent a lot of time outside the club but what I can rely on is that he's a warrior. He stood up when he had to, won his headers and was brave. That's what you have to be at time.
"I thought he was magnificent today, he's a good guy and wants to play games. I thought he was absolutely brilliant."
