Brendan Rodgers 'back in' for prized Celtic target as Leicester boss eyes Serie A talent

A report in France states that Leicester City have joined the race for Atalanta right-back Timothy Castagne.

The Belgian was targeted by Brendan Rodgers and sporting director Lee Congerton when the pair were both at Celtic, but a deal couldn't be completed.

Now Le10Sport is reporting that the pair are back in for Castagne, joining Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain in the fight for his signature.

The Foxes may well be in the market for a right-back this summer, with Ricardo Pereira linked with a move away from the King Power Stadium.

And the versatile Castagne could fit the bill, having emerged as a key player for Gian Piero Gasperini's high-flying side.

The right-back was close to a move to Celtic in January 2019, but he broke into the Atalanta first team and has been turning in impressive performances ever since.

He explained last year: "I wasn't playing much, but then I started finding more space and I want to do well here.

"Now we just want to continue like this. A lot of our players are doing well, if there were offers totalling €70million for (Duvan) Zapata, (Josip) Ilicic and for me and the club rejected them then that shows the confidence they have in us."
