Tottenham announce Bryan Gil transfer and confirm Erik Lamela has joined Sevilla

Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Bryan Gil on a permanent transfer.

The Spaniard's move was announced via the club's official Twitter page on Monday afternoon and becomes Nuno Espirito Santo's second signing since becoming Spurs head coach.

Interestingly the first was announced on Saturday as goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has joined from Italian side Atalanta on a season-long loan, with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.

As part of the deal bringing Gil to north London, Erik Lamela has sealed his move to Sevilla after eight seasons and making a total of 257 appearances in all competitions.

A statement regarding the swap deal via Spurs' official website reads: "We are delighted to announce the signing of Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Erik Lamela joining the Spanish club as part of the deal.

"The exciting young winger, 20, joins us on a contract until 2026.

"Going the other way to Spain, Erik joined us from AS Roma in August, 2013. Over the next eight seasons, the all-action attacking midfielder made 257 appearances in all competitions, helping us reach three cup finals and finish second and third twice in the Premier League.

"Now 29, Erik took his tally of caps for Argentina to 25 during his time here.

"A Club man through and through, we wish Erik all the best for the future."

Whilst Euro 2020 and the Copa America have been completed, there's still one more football competition taking place this summer - and it's the delayed 2020 Olympic Games.

Gil has been named in the Spain squad and as a result, could miss the start of the new season.

Players usually get time off after an international tournament and if Spain were to be involved in the gold medal match then the midfielder may not feature for the Spurs during the month of August.
