Rafa Benitez confirmed as Dalian Yifang manager after leaving Newcastle

Rafa Benitez has been confirmed as Dalian Yifang manager after leaving Newcastle .

Benitez's departure from Newcastle was announced last week after failing to agree a contract extension.

The Spaniard released a statement on Monday, stating Mike Ashley and Newcastle's board didn't share his vision for the club.

And just 24 hours later, he is back in management after agreeing a bumper deal in China.

Former Liverpool boss Benitez is reportedly set to pocket a stunning £12m-a-year in China after agreeing a deal with Dalian Yifang.

In a letter to Newcastle fans, Benitez outlined his reasons for quitting the club - blaming much-maligned owner Ashley.

"I wanted to stay, but I didn't just want to sign an extended contract, I wanted to be part of a project," he said.

"Unfortunately, it became increasingly clear to me that those at the top of the Club did not share the same vision.

"I'm very sad about that, but I do not regret for one moment my decision to come to Tyneside and I'm very proud about what we achieved together."

Benitez will inherit a squad including Arsenal target Yannick Carrasco, who had set his sights on returning to Europe this summer.

But he scored in the victory over Beijing on Saturday, as did former Napoli captain Marek Hamsik, who worked with Benitez during his time with the Serie A side.

Newcastle are yet to announce his successor with former Swansea and Birmingham boss Garry Monk among the favourites.

The Magpies are due to return to first-team training this week with no first-team management in place ahead of the new campaign.
