Pele admitted to hospital in Paris with 'tetanus crisis'

Pele has been admitted to hospital in Paris, according to reports.

RMC Sport radio say the Brazilian legend had a 'tetanus crisis' - but the condition is not life-threatening.

Pele is said to have had a 'very high fever' and will be observed by doctors over the next few hours.

The World Cup winner was in the French capital after meeting PSG star Kylian Mbappe.

He reportedly felt ill during the night before being admitted to hospital.

Mbappe has been compared to Pele during his fledgling career so far, having already won the World Cup with France last year.

But he claims, despite hitting 103 goals so far, he will not be able to match Pele's much-disputed tally of 1,025.

"Even with the goals in playgrounds, goals on the PlayStation, I could never equal 1,250 (sic) goals," said the former Monaco forward.

"It's really a long way off. I'll try and get as close as I can, but I think I'll still be a long way off by the end of my career."

Pele played almost his entire career with Brazilian side Santos before a swansong with New York Cosmos in his later playing days.

He scored 77 goals in 92 appearances for his country, winning the World Cup on three occasions.
