Breaking: Nottingham Forest secure new deal for defender

Highly-rated defender Jordan Gabriel has signed a new deal with Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Scunthorpe United, but has committed his future to the Reds, penning fresh terms until 2022.

Having joined the club from Southend United in 2015, Gabriel went on to earn a professional contract the following January and become a regular for Forest’s Under-18s and Under-23s.

The right-back, who can also play in the centre of the back line, was then handed his first-team debut by head coach Sabri Lamouchi earlier this season.

He came off the bench for the final few minutes of the 5-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Arsenal back in September, and was an unused substitute against fellow Premier League giants Chelsea in the FA Cup third round tie at Stamford Bridge last month.

Gabriel headed to Glanford Park on loan in the January transfer window and has so far made five appearances for the League Two outfit - all but one of those in the starting XI.

He has now extended his stay at the City Ground.
