Mark Field: Woman grabbed by Tory says he should take an anger management course

The woman grabbed by a Tory minister today suggested he takes an anger management course as she spoke out for the first time.

Janet Barker branded Mark Field "over the top" after the Foreign Office minister manhandled her out of a black tie dinner last night.

Mr Field and is being investigated by Tory whips and the Cabinet Office.

The Greenpeace protester told the BBC: "The only thing I was armed with was peer-reviewed science stating the state we’re in.

"I had nothing on me. I was wearing a red dress, a sash and a little handbag with leaflets. He panicked."

She added: “I’d quite like him to go on anger management perhaps and I hope he doesn’t do it again”

The incident erupted after 40 climate change activists gatecrashed a banquet for bankers and politicians in London's Mansion House.

It forced Chancellor Philip Hammond to break off a speech.

Police are also looking into the incident and Theresa May watched the footage, which she found "very concerning".

Mr Field issued a statement in the early hours apologising and saying he acted on "instinct" after thinking "she might have been armed".

But Ms Barker - who knits rabbit wool on a farm in rural Wales, according to MailOnline - said the protesters were simply planning to "stand there dignified".

She added: "We were peaceful. I was simply trying to walk past his chair."

Asked if she expected resistance, Ms Barker said: "Yes, but not to the extent which I received.

"I expected to maybe engage in a conversation or two with people, perhaps people blocking my way.

"But certainly not to be grabbed round the neck."
