Liverpool suffer major FA Cup Final setback with Mohamed Salah injured vs. Chelsea at Wembley

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah was forced off with an injury in the first half of the FA Cup final with Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday afternoon. The Egyptian went down off the ball after just 30 minutes.

The two sides were meeting at Wembley for the second time this season. Back in February, Jurgen Klopp came out on top after a dramatic penalty shootout, so Thomas Tuchel will be eyeing revenge, especially after also losing out in last season's FA Cup final as well.

Liverpool dominated the early stages of the first half, with Luis Diaz missing a one-on-one chance against Edouard Mendy. But Chelsea grew into the clash, and before half-time, Christian Pulisic, Marcos Alonso, and Romelu Lukaku had all missed presentable opportunities to find the net.

But then the moment that would have made Klopp's heart sink came. With 30 minutes on the clock, Salah went down off the ball, a situation that is never a good sign. He received treatment on the pitch, but there was nothing to be done with the Premier League's top scorer replaced by Diogo Jota.

It came after Chelsea had suffered their own injury scare as Thiago Silva received treatment following a great chance for Luis Diaz. The Brazilian carried on, however, while Salah was replaced.

Chelsea faced a number of injury problems heading into the game, not least to midfielders Mateo Kovacic and N'Golo Kante. But the former started the game against the odds, while Kante took his place on the bench. Kai Havertz, however, missed out on the game entirely with a reported hamstring injury.
