Eden Hazard confirms Chelsea 'goodbye' after Europa League final win to set up Real Madrid move

Eden Hazard has confirmed he expects to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer market, amidst continued speculation that a move to Real Madrid is imminent.

The Belgium international has not hidden his admiration for Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, his childhood hero, and it has been widely suspected he would leave this summer.

After netting two goals in the Europa League final against Arsenal, Hazard confirmed that he expects the match was his 'goodbye' to the Blues and the supporters at Stamford Bridge.

"I think it’s a goodbye but you never know. My dream was to play in the Premier League. I did this for seven years in one of the biggest clubs in the world. Now maybe it’s time for a new challenge," he told BT Sport after the game.

"I talked about my decision already. I said that two weeks ago. Now it depends on the club. I’m just waiting on both clubs. Like the fans I’m just waiting. You will know in a couple of days."

Former Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen perfectly summed up how fans are feeling after the news by giving his take on Hazard, as he said:

"What a performance, two goals, probably saying goodbye after 7 years. Every fan in the Premier League will miss him so much. "

That now puts the ball into the court of Real Madrid and Chelsea to agree a fee, which is expected to be an audacious amount of money.
