Chelsea announce Mykhaylo Mudryk transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk on long-term deal

Chelsea have announced the signing of Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk on a eight-and-a-half-year contract. The 22-year-old was a long-term target for Arsenal before the Blues stepped in to bolster their frontline.

He joins on an expected £62m deal with an additional £26m in add-ons. He is already the fifth signing of this window and follows Joao Felix, Andrey Santos, Benoit Badiashile and David Datro Fofana through the door under Graham Potter.

Mudryk has seven goals and six assists this season in 12 league games as well as standing out in the Champions League, where he scored three times and assisted twice in a group including Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

Upon his arrival at Stamford Bridge the Ukraine star said: "I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea. This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff."

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behded Eghbali explained their delight at completing the deal, adding, "We are delighted to welcome Mykhailo to Chelsea. He’s a hugely exciting talent who we believe will be a terrific addition to our squad both now and in the years to come. He will add further depth to our attack and we know he’ll get a very warm welcome to London."

While the Blues have announced his signing during the game, the youngster has been spotted at Stamford Bridge, with an unveiling expected at half-time.
