Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea discover fixture fate as Premier League makes decision

The Premier League have made a decision on whether this weekend's fixtures will go ahead as planned ahead of Queen Elizabeth II's funeral on Monday.

Top flight football came to a halt over the weekend as the country paid respect to Her Majesty's death on Thursday, September 8th. Although the government permitted football to continue, Premier League decision-makers thought it was best to postpone fixtures to mourn the Queen's passing properly.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), who are advising the Premier League on what's best to do moving forward, confirmed to football.london on Saturday that its guidance on the coming weekend's fixtures will not change: "Our guidance will stay the same. There's no obligation to cancel as far as the government is concerned. But it's ultimately up to the Premier League and EFL to make those decisions."

However, the Premier League has now confirmed that seven of the 10 matches due to take place this weekend will go ahead as planned but Chelsea's game with Liverpool, due to be Graham Potter's first domestic game in charge, has been postponed.

Crystal Palace's game at Brighton remains postponed, along with Manchester United vs Leeds.

Tottenham vs Leicester goes ahead as planned on Saturday with a 5:30pm kick-off and although Brentford vs Arsenal will also be played, it will be at midday rather than 2pm on Sunday.

Similarly, West Ham's trip to Everton on Sunday will now kick-off at 2:15pm.
