A teenager has died after she was hit by a pick-up-truck in the early hours of Friday morning.
The 16-year-old girl was struck by the Nissan vehicle shortly before 12.40am in Trimstone, Devon.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, Devon Live reported.
In statement issued this morning, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident that lead to the death of a teenager in North Devon.
"Police were called at around 00:40 on Friday 28 June with reports of a collision between a Nissan pick-up and a 16-year-old local girl.
"Localised closures were put in place as emergency services attended.
"Tragically the girl was pronounced deceased at the scene; her next of kin have been informed."
The police urged anyone who witnessed the collision or who was in the area at the time to get in contact via 101@dc.police.uk quoting log number 40 for 28 June.
