Brandin Cooks still in concussion protocol, ruled out vs. Steelers

The Los Angeles Rams will be without Brandin Cooks this weekend against the Pittsburgh Steelers as he continues to recover from his second concussion of the season. Sean McVay announced Wednesday that Cooks is still in the concussion protocol and has been ruled out for Week 10.

McVay added that Cooks is on his way to Pittsburgh to meet with a concussion specialist again, after the first visit came with some positive results. Given the nature of the injury, though, the Rams are going to play it very safe with their wide receiver.

“There’s no setbacks, anything like that,” McVay said. It’s all moving in the right direction. But kind of like we’ve talked about, you can’t be smart enough with the human being, more than anything, with something like this. And that’s exactly the precautionary measure that we’re taking and I know Brandin feels good about it and if he feels good, then that makes us feel good.”

With Cooks out, Josh Reynolds will once again be asked to step up. He played well against the Bengals in London after Cooks went down, catching three passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods will, of course, be the other starting receivers.

This season, Cooks has caught 27 passes for 402 yards and one touchdown.
