Braehead Soar evacuated after fire breaks out in electrical box

Braehead Soar was evacuated this afternoon after a fire broke out in an electrical box.

Emergency services raced to the scene shortly before 1.30pm.

Four Scottish Fire and Rescue crews were sent to tackle the fire, however it was extinguished by the time they arrived and they left the scene shortly before 2pm, the Daily Record reports.

Dozens of families were removed as the building was evacuated.

They waited patiently outside while fire crews inspected the electrical box.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "We got called out to a report of a fire at Soar Braehead at 1:26pm.

"We had four pumps in attendance but the fire in a small electrical box had been extinguished before they got there.”

She confirmed that all crews left the area at 1.58pm.
