Bradley Walsh shares sweet story of how EastEnders actor introduced him to his wife

Bradley Walsh has revealed how he met his wife Donna Derby with a sweet story on The One Show. The presenter appeared on the famous green sofa alongside hosts Jermaine Jenas and Lauren Laverne to talk about the new series Breaking Dad, which he appears in alongside his son Barney.

However, later in the show, Bradley was joined by EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick who discussed the latest drama in the popular soap. Involving Bradley in the topic, Lauren asked: "Bradley you've got a few friends in the EastEnders cast I think?"

After listing off a few of his pals, Bradley explained he'd known Brian Conley, who plays Terry Cant in the show, for 40 years. Interjecting, James then asked: "Brian isn't your brother-in-law Brad is he? I haven't dreamt that have I?"

"You have dreamt that," Bradley responded, before sharing a sweet story about how Brian introduced him to his wife Donna. "He introduced me to my wife," he explained. "Brian used to live in the same street in Watford, opposite doors."

"So how did that go down, because your wife is a dancer isn't she?" Lauren asked. "She was a commercial TV dancer and worked on one of Brian's shows, and we were walking through the old London weekend television studios and he was having a cup of tea in the green room and I said I was going to Somerset," Bradley recalled.

The actor and presenter then recounted how his future wife simply walked past, with Brian introducing the pair. "Brian introduced me and said this in Donna. That is it."

Bradley and Donna married in 1997. "I wouldn't swap my missus for the world," he told The Mirror in 2019.

"Donna isn't just beautiful, she's the most fantastic wife and mother. It's because of her I signed with Coronation Street," he added, explaining how she helped him make up his mind when he was dithering about auditioning. "She's the one who recognised what it could do for me even though it would mean being apart." For more showbiz and television stories sign up to our newsletter here.
