Brad Biggs' Week 8 NFL power rankings

1. Eagles 6-1 (1): Carson Wentz was electric in rugged victory over rival Redskins on Monday night.

2. Patriots 5-2 (3): Rex Burkhead returned from a rib injury and was leading force in ground game that rolled up 162 yards against Falcons.

3. Steelers 5-2 (5): Martavis Bryant sounds like he's the only player upset with the success in Pittsburgh and he doesn't realize the team holds all the leverage.

4. Seahawks 4-2 (4): Defense is tied for first in NFL in points allowed after dominating victory over Giants, their third straight win.

5. Rams 5-2 (7): Los Angeles has a team it can rally around right now.

6. Chiefs 5-2 (2): Cornerbacks Terrance Mitchell and Phillip Gaines under the microscope as defense has allowed 944 yards the last two weeks.

7. Saints 4-2 (8): Pedicures a present from coach Sean Payton for his players after they beat the Packers at Lambeau Field.

8. Cowboys 3-3 (10): Temporary restraining order has kept Ezekiel Elliott in the lineup, and that has been a big benefit.

9. Texans 3-3 (11): Left tackle Duane Brown finally ended his holdout, returning to an offense that has been playing at a high level.

10. Vikings 5-2 (13): Quietly, Mike Zimmer's team can win its fourth consecutive game, but it has to go to London to do it. The upside? The Vikings are playing the Browns.

11. Dolphins 4-2 (14): Matt Moore provided a spark in relief of Jay Cutler, who is out with broken ribs. If Moore plays well, can he keep the starting job?

12. Bills 4-2 (18): All that "tanking" talk in Buffalo after the trade of Sammy Watkins has turned into motivation, and so far it's working. Credit to Sean McDermott.

13. Lions 3-3 (15): Matthew Stafford is on pace to be sacked 61 times and the Lions need to do a better job of protecting him after open date.

14. Raiders 3-4 (24): It took a wacky ending on Thursday to beat the Chiefs, but the Silver and Black pulled it off and they're back in the AFC hunt.

15. Jaguars 4-3 (19): With free-agent stud Calais Campbell leading the way, the Jaguars are on pace to break 1984 Bears' record for sacks in a season (72).

16. Panthers 4-3 (6): They have some simmering issues on offense and the lack of a speed threat on the outside really stands out.

17. Falcons 3-3 (9): Steve Sarkisian's offense looked like it was in a fog before the weather rolled into Gillette Stadium on Sunday night in a bad loss to the Patriots.

18. Broncos 3-3 (12): Denver is sticking with Trevor Siemian at quarterback despite its third loss in four games and first shutout in nearly 25 years.

19. Packers 4-3 (16): Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb combined for five catches in a loss to the Saints and Brett Hundley needs to get them the ball more.

20. Titans 4-3 (22): Ugly win over the Browns isn't how they wanted to head into week off, but it beats an unsightly loss to the Browns.

21. Chargers 3-4 (23): Three straight wins for rookie coach Anthony Lynn, who lost captain Matt Slauson for the season with a biceps injury.

22. Bears 3-4 (26): The defense looks like it's 2005 and Lovie Smith is the coach. The offense looks like it's 2004 and Lovie Smith is the coach.

23. Redskins 3-3 (17): Kirk Cousins is struggling without Pierre Garcon. The wide receivers had a rough outing Monday night at Philadelphia.

24. Jets 3-4 (21): Robby Anderson's helmet spike was just part of the problem as the Jets had 12 penalties for 124 yards in a narrow loss in Miami.

25. Cardinals 3-4 (20): Carson Palmer could miss the remainder of the season with a broken arm. You get the sense it's not the Cardinals' year.

26. Buccaneers 2-4 (25): T.J. Ward and Chris Baker are airing their grievances with coaches publicly. That rarely ends well for players.

27. Bengals 2-4 (29): Joe Mixon believes one of the Bengals' problems is not enough Joe Mixon in the offense. That's one way for a rookie to assert himself.

28. Ravens 3-4 (27): Offense went nearly 11 full quarters without a touchdown before scoring on the final play of a loss the Vikings.

29. Giants 1-6 (28): They head into their week off needing some time to regroup and really needing a few more victories.

30. Colts 2-5 (30): It's a shame to lose rookie safety Malik Hooker to a serious knee injury. He was a bright spot for Chris Ballard's rebuild.

31. 49ers 0-7 (31): So much for that fun storyline about losing games by narrow margins. They got wrecked by the Cowboys on the day they honored Dwight Clark, who is battling ALS.

32. Browns 0-7 (32): Left tackle Joe Thomas' streak of 10,363 consecutive plays has ended. He's on injured reserve now and the Browns are positively miserable.
