Two young boys were apprehended by detectives from the NT Police sex crimes division following alleged indecent assaults against two women in Darwin. Both have been released without charge.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Grieve said a 14-year-old boy was arrested for aggravated assault and released into the custody of his parents.

A second offender, aged nine, cannot be charged because he is under the age of criminal responsibility, police said.

NT Police said he was released to his carers, with "appropriate referrals for ongoing support".

NT Police issued a call out for information on Wednesday after two women reported being assaulted at the same residential complex in Casuarina on Tuesday night.

A 22-year-old woman reported trying to enter the complex when she was allegedly assaulted by a young male.

The second incident involved a 20-year-old woman who was in the car park of the complex when her and her friend were followed to the entrance by three young people — one of whom allegedly assaulted her before all three left the area.

The incidents were within six minutes of each other and involved the women being approached from behind and touched inappropriately.

Senior Sergeant Grieve commended the women for reporting the incidents.
