'Boyfriend's profile is still on the dating app - months after we met on it'

Dear Coleen, I met my boyfriend on a dating site. We’re in our early 30s and have been together a few months. I thought things were going well then I found out via a friend he’s still on that dating app.

When I confronted him and showed him the evidence, he claimed he just forgot to take down his profile, which I don’t believe for a minute.

He did apologise and seemed genuine, but I can’t bear the thought of being with another player. My ex messed me around for years and cheated on me, so I’m wary of getting involved with the wrong guy.

What should I do?

Coleen says

If he is still putting himself out there or even if he just left his profile up to keep his options open, it’s clear he doesn’t feel 100% about your relationship.

Don’t allow this to feed any insecurities and take control of the situation instead. Tell him you’re not interested in someone who is not committed and if he wants to date women on a casual basis, you’re not one of them.

You could give him one more chance to prove he wants to be with you and to be transparent about the activity on his dating profile. I guess it depends how serious you are about him and if you think you can trust him.

But don’t let him make you feel as if you’re being crazy to confront him over this. It’s fair to expect your boyfriend not to have his mug on dating sites.
