- An eight-year-old boy, Phoenix, and his father, James, were commended by Jet2 for their exceptional kindness in calming a disruptive passenger on a flight from Izmir, Turkey, to Manchester on 24 April.
- The female passenger was reportedly screaming, shouting, swearing and attempting to hit cabin crew, leading flight staff to consider diverting the aircraft.
- After James requested the woman be moved next to them, Phoenix actively engaged her by singing 'Dance Monkey', showing his football cards, and asking about her family, which gradually de-escalated her behaviour.
- Their intervention successfully prevented a costly flight diversion, allowing the journey to Manchester to continue for the remaining three and a half hours without further incident.
- Upon arrival, the disruptive passenger was taken into police custody, while James and Phoenix were thanked by the pilot and subsequently awarded free flight vouchers by Jet2 in recognition of their actions.
