Boy, 17, rushed to hospital after stabbing on bus in Kirkstall, Leeds

A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after a stabbing on a bus in the Kirkstall area of Leeds yesterday.

West Yorkshire Police were called just before 2.50pm on Saturday by the ambulance service after a report of a stabbing on a bus in Broad Lane.

The 17-year-old victim suffered injuries to his hands and legs and was rushed to hospital where he stayed overnight.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the attack and the force are appealing for witnesses.

A huge cordon was in place on Broad Lane yesterday that spanned to Wyther Lane and Bridge Road while officers were investigating the scene.

A First Bus service was seen inside the area of the cordon.

A spokesman for First Bus at the time said: “A passenger on our 49 service bus in Leeds was attacked this afternoon (Saturday) and our driver acted swiftly in contacting the emergency services who have now closed the road.

"This was a serious incident and we will work closely with the Police as part of their investigation, including providing access to our CCTV - which is fitted to all our buses in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack on the bus.
