Boy, 15, rushed to hospital after being stabbed as gang leave scene

A teenager was rushed to hospital this afternoon after he was stabbed in the leg in South Liverpool.

The boy, 15, was attacked on Childwall Valley Road close to the shops on on Childwall Fiveways.

An investigation is underway as police work to establish what led to the victim being attacked. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

In a statement tonight, police confirmed five males were seen walking away from the area in the direction of Broadgreen Road.

Officers remain in the area this evening as they carry out forensic, CCTV, and witness enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne said: “We are in the very early stages of an investigation after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed this afternoon and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any suspicious behaviour in the Childwall Fiveways area to please contact us.

“This is an appalling incident and we are working to establish the exact circumstances and identify those involved. The use of weapons on our streets is unacceptable and can result in serious injury or worse.

"We will be doing all we can to find those responsible and bring them to justice.

“I would encourage anyone who may have information to assist the investigation or who may have captured dashcam footage or mobile phone camera footage to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact @MerPolCC, on Twitter, Merseyside Police Contact Centre on Facebook or call 101 quoting ref. 592 of 19/04.

You can also contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
