Boy, 12, taken to Alder Hey as crash shuts major Liverpool junction

A schoolboy has been taken to Alder Hey hospital after he was hit by a car in an accident which has closed a major Liverpool junction.

The 12-year-old was struck at 8.40am on the junction of Ullet Road and Belvidere Road on the edge of Toxteth not far from Sefton Park .

Police have confirmed the boy suffered a head injury and has been taken to Alder Hey hospital.

As a result of the incident the junction of Ullet Road/Aigburth Road remained closed as of 9.30am.

The driver of the car, a Fiat Doblo, stopped at the scene.

A police spokeswoman said: "We were called at 8.40am today to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a 12 year-old boy on Ullet Road/Belvidere Road.

"The boy has been taken to Alder Hey hospital with a head injury. The driver of the car, a Fiat Doblo, stopped at the scene.

"The junction of Ullet Road/Aigburth Road is currently closed."

Five girls were seriously hurt following the 2016 accident , while another three were injured, all of them from the Belvedere Academy.

Stokes was handed a two year suspended sentence after admitting five counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
