An 11-year-old boy was found following a huge rescue mission near Bolton in the early hours of this morning.
James Summerscales had last been seen at his home in Barrow Bridge at 3.30pm yesterday (July 20) but was still missing nearly 12 hours later.
Police called Bolton Mountain Rescue Team for assistance at around 2.20am this morning in a bid to help track down the youngster.
A team of 20 members searched through the night in open and wooded areas around Barrow Bridge, Dean Clough and Bolton Old Links.
He was eventually located at around 5am and was quickly reunited with his family.
In a statement, Bolton Mountain Rescue Team said: “At 02:17 this morning the team was contacted by Greater Manchester Police who were requesting our assistance in the search for a missing 11-year-old male in Barrow Bridge, Bolton.
“He had been reported missing several hours earlier. We were asked to search the open and wooded areas around Barrow Bridge, Dean Clough, and Bolton Old Links.
“20 team members attended and started searching at 03:30.
“Happily, the young man was found by a Bolton MRT member in one of the designated search areas at 05:00, and was quickly reunited with his family.
“As you can imagine, we're all very pleased and relieved with this outcome.”
