Boy, 10, seriously injured in car crash

A 10-year-old was seriously injured in a car crash over the weekend.

Merseyside Police confirmed officers were called to Liverpool Road in Formby around 4.40pm after a two-car crash involving a black Toyota Yaris and a grey Ford Ecosport. As a result of the crash two people suffered serious injuries.

A 10-year-old boy is confirmed to have suffered serious injuries to his back and arm with a man in his 30s also suffering a serious arm injury. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service also confirmed they were called with two fire engines attending as well as a search and rescue appliance.

An MFRS spokesperson told the ECHO : "Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called to Liverpool Road, Formby, on Saturday, May 14 following reports of a road traffic collision. Crews were alerted at 4.46pm and on scene at 4.50pm. Two fire engines attended as well as the search and rescue appliance.

"On arrival crews found two vehicles had been involved in a collision. Following assessment at the scene by paramedics, three people were taken to hospital.

"Fire crews left the scene at 5.42pm and handed the incident over to Merseyside Police."

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson told the ECHO: "We responded to a two-vehicle RTC. A male (30s) and a 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. Another 10-year-old boy and man were taken to hospital. The 999 call was received at 16.41."
