Favourite Winx has claimed victory in the 2015 Cox Plate with a record-breaking run at Moonee Valley.
The previous course record (2040m) was held by Might and Power, set in 1998, but was beaten by the Hugh Bowman-ridden mare, who came home almost five lengths ahead of the next-best performers Criterion and Highland Reel.
It was a controlled performance from the Chris Waller-trained horse. Bowman pulled away at the 600m mark and never looked back to claim the $3 million weight-for-age championship.
