Boundary wall of highrise collapses after rain in Greater Noida

NOIDA: The main boundary wall of Panchsheel Greens 2 in Sector 16 B in Noida Extension collapsed and fell down in the waterlogged service lane post rainfall on Friday. Residents said this incident took place around 5pm.

“I was inside my flat when this incident happened. On hearing a loud sound, I and other residents came out of our flats. We saw the boundary wall, adjacent to the main gate of the society, lying 20 feet down,” said a resident of the society Dipankar Kumar.

Though no injury was reported, the residents were shocked by the collapse as the wall didn’t have any cracks earlier.

They said they had even carried out a plantation drive in the society two days ago.

“The wall was in a perfect state until yesterday. There wasn't even a crack. This sudden wall collapse proves that the quality of the construction material used is poor. Around a year back, the boundary wall on the other side, the one in front of A6 had also collapsed. We had complained to the Authority at that time. However, the builder said the incident happened due to the construction work going on in the other society which is adjacent to ours. But this time who will the builder blame?” added Kumar.

However, this claim could not be verified as repeated calls to the builder and the maintenance department of the society remained unanswered.
