Boston’s Jaylen Brown ranked NBA’s fourth-best shooting guard for 2023-23

Star Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown might possess the NBA’s most valuable contract, but he was not ranked its best shooting guard by HoopsHype’s Frank Urbina in an article assessing the 2 guards in the league for 2023-24.

And while it’s fair to question if Brown is more of a forward given that’s the position he earned All-NBA second-team accolades for last season. Urbina has a reason for putting the Georgia native where he did, behind the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell and ahead of the Chicago Bulls’ Zach LaVine.

Whatever you think of Brown’s new deal, the former Cal standout is an elite shot-maker and one of the best wing defenders in the NBA in Urbina’s estimation.

“His ballhandling leaves a whole lot to be desired, however, as was exposed by Miami in the Eastern Conference finals last season, something Brown will have to continue to work at if he’s to reach an even higher level of player,” added the H/H analyst.

“Even as is, though, Brown has established himself as one of the best 2-guards in the NBA.”
