The Boston Celtics and 21 other teams have plenty to keep them busy at Disney’s NBA Campus when they are not in their rooms, so long as having an adult beverage isn’t their goal.
The Athletic’s Fred Katz revealed an array of activities available to players staying in Disney-owned hotels near the site of the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex where official league activities will be conducted between now and mid- October.
But, alcoholic drinks are potio non grata in at least some of the NBA campus activities, it seems, where impairment might be dangerous for players where water is involved.
While it is unclear whether potent potables are verboten in the theme parks and non-boating activities, players wishing to go on guided fishing expeditions in nearby lakes or rent a motorboat will have to do so as if it were the height of the prohibition era.
After-hours trips to the Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, Test Track at Epcot theme parks are other options (likely to be popular with the Lopez brothers of the Milwaukee Bucks) players can indulge in.
They can also go bowling, golfing (a new pastime Jayson Tatum picked up in the hiatus, perhaps channeling his inner Danny Ainge) or get their hair or nails done, if they are into the pristinely manicured look.
While some players may gripe about their accommodations, the amenities are actually pretty solid given a full array of workout equipment is also at their disposal for training, and far and away better than what most average U.S. citizens can hope to partake in with a similar degree of safety.
