Boss Jamie McKenzie exits Gartcairn as Airdrie side 'go in a different direction'

Jamie McKenzie has left Gartcairn after the club decided the committee decided "to go in a different direction".

McKenzie took over from Davie Greig in the summer of 2018 and led the MTC Park men to the West Region League One title last season and promotion to the Championship.

They currently sit ninth in the division six points off the relegation spots but 13 points adrift of promotion.

However, as talks turned to next season a decision was taken to bring in a new gaffer.

The club are taking applications for the position until December 23.

In a statement, the club said: " Gartcairn Juniors today parted company with manager Jamie McKenzie.

"Jamie was seeking clarification on his position for next season. After discussion the committee felt we needed to go in a different direction and decided to part ways now to allow any new manager time to get settled.

"We wish Jamie all the very best in his future endeavors and thank him for all his work and support that culminated in winning the first division (West Region League One) last year."
