Borussia Dortmund issue transfer update on Manchester United target Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund are hoping that the coronavirus pandemic that has left football clubs across Europe reassessing their finances might help them keep hold of Jadon Sancho this summer.

Manchester United are interested in signing the England international, but Dortmund are determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old, despite losing out on revenue as a result of the Bundesliga returning behind closed doors.

Sancho fits the mould of a United signing under Ole Gunnar Solskaer and it's long been expected that the club would try and bring the former Manchester City youngster back to the Premier League this summer.

United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has already said it's unlikely to be "business as usual" for any club in the next transfer window, including his own, but Solskjaer has stressed his belief that United are in a position to continue with his rebuild of the squad and the MEN understands United will press ahead with their plans to sign three new players this summer.

But Dortmund's chief operating officer Carsten Cramer is determined to hold on to Sancho. Cramer expects transfer fees to drop this summer, but there is still a desire to keep hold of Sancho rather than cashing in.

"We want to keep our players at for as long as possible. The less clubs interested in Jadon, the less we would complain," he told BBC Sport.

Speaking last month Solskjaer agreed with Gary Neville that United could 'exploit' some opportunities in the transfer market.

"Football is going to get back to normality at one point, and it's very important we're ready when that happens," Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

"Then, the market, who knows how the market is going to react to this? Who knows which clubs need to sell players?

"There might be just a situation there where you can exploit, and I know that we at Man United we are one of the biggest, and the biggest, financially well-off."
