Borna Barisic vows to end Rangers penalty hoodoo as he sends transfer message

Borna Barisic has told
Steven Gerrard that he can be Rangers’ penalty king.

The Croatian set-piece specialist scored a
stunning free-kick against St Johnstone in their 3-0 midweek win at Ibrox. And now Barisic wants to be the man to solve Gers’ spot-kick curse.

Rangers have missed four of their last five
penalties, with skipper James Tavernier, Scott Arfield, Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi all
passing up chances.

They’ve yet to be awarded a spot-kick this season but Barisic has revealed he’s happy to take responsibility.

He said: “We practise penalties on the training ground and if you said I was going to shoot them for the team, I would definitely do it.

“I’d put my hand up for the job, of course.”

Meanwhile, after
Gerrard made it clear that his left-back isn’t for sale amid Premier League interest, Barisic insists he’s staying put.

He said: “I don’t want to talk about transfers.

“The most important thing is where I am now and that’s at Rangers. This is a huge season.”
