Boris Johnson to give Covid rules update from Downing Street

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is to lead a briefing from Downing Street on Monday evening, it has been reported, with more detail about the reopening of schools in England.

According to The Sun, Mr Johnson will set out some of the information about which pupils will return to schools first, when that will happen and what the rules in the classrooms and corridors will be.

Mr Johnson will also speak about the next phase of the vaccine rollout as 1.2million more letters will be sent to people inviting them to have a jab next week.

The next round of people to be vaccinated will be the over 60s and the clinically vulnerable.

That will come as the Government tomorrow hits its target of vaccinating the most vulnerable - the 15million people in the top four categories of the vaccine priority list.

But according to The Telegraph Mr Johnson will not be giving a celebratory briefing, despite hitting the target, instead focussing on what comes next.

Mr Johnson is expected to confirm that children will start going back to school on March 8.

The full details will be published a week tomorrow, on February 22.

It is reported Mr Johsnon will set out a plan that will see outdoor mixing and leisure and outdoor drinking at pubs from March, and fuller reopening of shops and the hospitality sector in April.
