Boris Johnson tells Tory MPs the SNP and Labour will do a deal if he is toppled

Boris Johnson is trying to save his own skin by claiming the SNP and Labour will do a deal to get into power, it has been reported.

The Prime Minister is said to have issued the warning at a crunch meeting with Tory MPs hours before a confidence vote into him.

Ex Tory leader David Cameron fought the 2015 general election by warning that his then Labour counterpart Ed Miliband would be in the pocket of Alex Salmond if he was Prime Minister.

Labour leader Keir Starmer has repeatedly ruled out any sort of deal with the SNP after the general election, but the Sun has reported that Johnson today raised the alarm about an SNP/Labour coalition.

Tory MPs could dump Johnson tonight as leader in the confidence vote.
