Boris Johnson news - live: PM ‘must reveal who knew what’ on Pincher allegations

Minister cannot imagine PM saying 'Pincher by name, pincher by nature'

The Tory Party "cannot go on like this", a senior MP has warned as he issued a fresh call for Boris Johnson to resign over questions about his judgement in appointing suspended MP Chris Pincher as his deputy chief whip.

Sir Roger Gale, who has already submitted a no confidence letter in Mr Johnson, spoke to the BBC earlier about the prime minister's handling of allegations against MP Chris Pincher, who was forced to quit last week after being accused of drunkenly groping two men at a private members' club for Tories in central London.

Mr Pincher, who was hit with a string of other misconduct claims over the weekend, previously resigned from the whips' office in 2017 amid claims he made an appropriate pass at a Conservative Party candidate.

No 10 claims the PM was aware of any “specific allegations” against Pincher before he was appointed deputy whip in February.

"We cannot go on like this," Sir Roger said. "There has to be a change at the top" He added that the government should be led "by a person of integrity."

Earlier, Labour said the PM must set out exactly “who knew what and when” about allegations against Pincher
