Border Crisis Escalates As Migrants Continue Crossing

Asylum seekers walk towards Piedras Negras, in Nava

Good afternoon. The San Diego County sector has been experiencing a high influx of migrants, making it the second busiest in the country with over 1,200 migrants crossing there yesterday. Governor Gavin Newsom recently visited the area, specifically Hakuba, California, to assess the situation firsthand. The migrants are coming from various countries such as China, Syria, Kazakhstan, Peru, Brazil, and India.

Newsom attributed the border issues to Republicans in Congress, accusing them of creating chaos and hindering progress by blocking a bipartisan border security deal. Former President Trump and President Biden also visited different border locations, with each blaming the other for the current state of affairs.

There is a call for President Biden to take unilateral action to address the border crisis, with expectations that he may announce executive orders during the upcoming State of the Union address. California Democrat Congressman Ami Barrow believes that executive orders could be a potential solution to the chaos at the border.

It remains uncertain what specific executive orders President Biden may announce, but there is speculation that some of former President Trump's policies, such as the 'Remain in Mexico' policy, could be revisited. The focus is now on what actions the President will take to address the ongoing challenges at the border.
