A giant Borat statue will float down the Thames in London today (22 October) to promote the new film.
The highly anticipated sequel to Sacha Baron Cohen’s 2006 hit is titled Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
It marks Borat’s return to the screen after almost 14 years and sees Cohen reprise his role as the hapless Kazakh journalist, who inserts himself into wacky and dangerous situations in America.
As part of the film’s promotion, the mankini-clad inflatable – which is 40-foot long and 21-foot high –will travel from Tower Bridge to the London Eye and back again from 2pm GMT.
Another statue has been spotted in Sydney, as it was airlifted by helicopter into Mackenzies Point in Bondi.
In a four-star review for The Independent, Clarisse Loughrey described the new film as “a jaw-dropping exposé of America in the here and now” with “a pay-off that’s worth a lifetime of being subjected to the words ‘very nice!’”
Borat 2 arrives on Amazon Prime on 23 October.
