Boonrawd Brewery Co, the maker of Singha Beer, has broken its silence on a family drama that has gripped the country, expressing profound regret over an incident involving executive Sunit “Pi” Scott and confirming that he has vacated all positions in the company.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the company controlled by the Bhirombhakdi family said it acknowledged the facts surrounding the case and extended its deepest sympathies to Siranudh “Psi” Scott, as well as others affected by the incident.
The company said the situation had affacted those directly involved, their family members and the wider public, while also recognising the concern and unease it has caused in society.
Boonrawd reaffirmed its firm stance against all forms of domestic violence, including physical, verbal and psychological harm, as well as any behaviour that infringes on the rights and dignity of others.
The company stressed that such principles have long been upheld as part of its corporate values. It pledged full cooperation with authorities to ensure a fair and transparent investigation of the case, without exception or bias.
The statement was signed by Bhurit Bhirombhakdi, managing director of Boonrawd Brewery Co and the cousin of the Scott brothers, whose father is from Scotland.
The dispute involving two brothers from the extended Bhirombhakdi clan has drawn widespread online attention ever since Mr Siranudh publicly accused his brother Sanit of sexually abusing him during childhood more than once.
Siranudh, 29, known for his marine conservation work in Thailand, first raised the allegation in a Facebook post on May 9, when he posted an emotional video in which he spoke about past trauma and claimed no one from the family had supported him at the time.
“Everyone in my family knows it because they listened to the tape I recorded of his confession” but no one took action, he said, declaring that he no longer wanted to be referred to as a “Singha heir”.
On Monday, Mr Siranudh went on Hone Krasae, a popular news talk show on TV Channel 3, to discuss what had happened to him.
