Bookmakers odds on next expected Newcastle signings after Kieran Trippier

The signing of Kieran Trippier is an exciting one for Newcastle United two main reasons.

Firstly, the England full back is a quality player in his own right. He will bring vital experience, leadership qualities and a wand of a right foot. All of these things will benefit the club hugely as they bid to escape relegation and climb the Premier League.

Second, his signing marks the start of a new era. He is the first new signing under the ownership of the Saudi Arabian PIF Fund and there expected to be several more in this month alone.

It's well known that a centre back is a priority, but the club are also enquiring after forwards as they seek somebody to fill the void left by the injured Callum Wilson.

With speculation rife, here are the latest odds on prospective targets coming to St James' Park, courtesy of Grosvenor Casinos:

  • Aaron Ramsey: 13/10
  • Sven Botman: 9/4
  • James Tarkowski: 2/1
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: 3/1
  • Dean Henderson: 16/5
  • Dele Alli: 7/2
  • Ross Barkley: 4/1
  • Lucas Digne: 4/1
  • Adama Traore: 6/1
  • Jesse Lingard: 6/1
  • Donny Van de Beek: 7/1
  • Eddie Nketiah: 10/1
  • Mauro Icardi: 10/1
  • Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 13/1

Newcastle are the team most commonly included in odds for any player's new club on the site, signifying the bookmaker's expectation that the club will be active and with the funds brought by the new ownership allowing the club to compete for players that a relegation threatened club wouldn't usually attract.

If another two or three of these names can be added alongside Trippier, Newcastle's squad will look far stronger in overcoming that threat than they have done previously.
