A huge Amazon depot in Fife was the scene of frantic activity this afternoon as the facility locked down after a suspicious package was discovered.

Bomb disposal teams and emergency services rushed to the warehouse in Dunfemline at around 3.25pm on Sunday (September 27).

Uniformed officers had sealed off roads leading to the depot and fire engines and ambulances had also been dispatched, reports the Record.

Police Scotland confirmed that bomb disposal experts had been called to the warehouse, where more than 1,200 people work.

A force spokesperson said: “Around 3.25pm on Sunday, 27 September, 2020, police received a report of a suspicious package found within the Amazon depot in Dunfermline.

“Emergency services are in attendance and a cordon has been put in place. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) will attend to inspect the package and enquiries are ongoing.”

This is the second ‘suspicious package’ incident to take place at the Fife depot in recent weeks .

Officers were previously called to the scene on September 6 after the shock discovery and workers were quickly evacuated from the online giant’s delivery hub.
