A BOMB squad carried out a controlled explosion after a "possible unexploded hand grenade" was found in a residential area of Renfrew.
Police were called to the Broadloan area of the town after being made aware of the object at around 7.30pm on Monday.
The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was also called out to remove the device.
Around 5.30am on Tuesday, May 19, it was destroyed via controlled explosion at a safe location nearby.
A cordon was put in place and no evacuations were required.
Police Scotland released a statement regarding the incident, saying: "A controlled explosion has taken place has taken place in the Broadloan area of Renfrew, following the discovery of a possible unexploded hand grenade.
"Around 7.30pm on Monday, 18 May, 2026, we were made aware of the item being found in a garden in the town.
"The EOD attended and removed the item.
"Around 5.30am on Tuesday, 19 May, it was destroyed via controlled explosion at a safe location nearby.
"A cordon was put in place and no evacuations were required."
