Bomb squad descend on Edinburgh street as forensic officers tape off house

A bomb squad surrounded a property on a quiet residential street in Edinburgh as part of a raid.

Cops descended on the home in Peveril Terrace on Wednesday, November 17 alongside a specialist bomb disposal unit on the street in The Inch area of the city.

A firearm was seized from the property.

It is understood officers remain in attendance outside the property, which has been taped off.

Neighbours claim 'tents' had been erected late last night, reports Edinburgh Live.

They added that police presence was increased over the last 24 hours following the raid on Wednesday.

In one image officers in forensic suits can be seen at the scene.

A Police Scotland said: “Officers executed a search warrant at a property on Peveril Terrace in Edinburgh on Wednesday, 17 November.

“There was no ongoing incident and no risk to the wider public at any time.

“A firearm has been seized from the property and made safe.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and the local community is thanked for their patience while this work continues.”
