Bolton Wanderers player ratings vs Blackburn Rovers - Dapo Afolayan and George Johnston good

Joel Dixon - 7

Called into action on a couple of occasions and was a good presence in goal. Could do little about first goal.

Gethin Jones - 7

Solid and dependable from the right-back in the first half, though struggled a tad after the break when Rovers made changes

George Johnston - 8

Put Wanderers in front and showed good eye for a pass, as well as great one on one defensive skills - a great performance.

Alex Baptiste - 7

Veteran kept Armstrong largely quiet in the first 45 minutes. Taken off before full-time for Brockbank.

Declan John - 6

Got forward well at times though lacked end product and was solid enough at the back.

MJ Williams - 7

Sprayed the ball around from the middle of the park in front of the back four and rarely gave possession away

Antoni Sarcevic - 6

Skipper was involved in build-up play throughout but tired as game wore on and was replaced by Thomason.

Josh Sheehan - 7

Slick in possession and put in the corner which led to the opener - could be a real big asset in League One this season.

Lloyd Isgrove - 7

Worked hard as ever and put in some decent delivery - taken off midway through the second half.

Amadou Bakayoko - 7

Pace was electric at times and something which Wanderers can exploit with a large playing surface. Later went to the right flank when Isgrove went off.

Dapo Afolayan - 8

Bolton's most productive attacking talent in the first half and after, helping to create the second goal on his own and causing Rovers problems throughout.

Substitutes

Harry Brockbank - 6

Replaced Johnston in the heart of defence, perhaps culpable for not closing down Brereton enough for the second Rovers goal.

Eoin Doyle - 6

Went through the middle but had few chances.

George Thomason - 6

Energetic after second half appearance but occasionally caught out in possession.

Liam Gordon - 6

Impressed once again in pre-season with brief stint after coming on at left-back.

Ronan Darcy - 6

Went to the left flank after coming on.

Andrew Tutte - 6

Fairly solid in central midfield after making a late appearance.

Ali Crawford - 5

Could have scored late winner after robbing Lenihan of possession.

Dennis Politic - 5

Went to the right flank late on but didn't have time to make an impact.

Adam Senior - 4

Came on in added time and had little time to make an impact.
